WOOD ICE BOX RESTORATION PROCESS
COMPLETED APRIL 11, 2012
Ice Box was picked up from client's property on March 6, 2012. Box was painted, top, sides and the back were all rotted out and were replaced.

The existing paint and finish hardware, interior shelves and drip grates (remember this was an ICE box) were removed. The top and sides were replaced with new oak trim. The entire unit was sanded and the interior cleaned of 50 plus years of grit and dirt. New hardware was found, however today the hardware is stainless so the new hardware was treated with acid to create a look to match the existing hardware. New gaskets were installed on the doors. One coat of M.L. Campbell lacquer sealer was applied, the surface then scuff sanded to accept Two coats of M.L. Campbell satin lacquer finish was applied. The client wanted to save the patina of the piece, and, as you can see this was accomplished. Below is the finished product.
